About Me

Hi! I'm Marcel, a self-taught developer with a strong passion for technology, software development, and turning ideas into real-world solutions. For many years, I have been deeply engaged in programming and continuously expand my knowledge through personal projects, hands-on experience, and independent learning. What motivates me most is analyzing technical challenges and creating structured, efficient, and elegant solutions.

My main focus lies in developing modern applications and web-based solutions. Beyond programming itself, I am also highly interested in system design, software architecture, and improving both processes and user experiences. I enjoy thinking analytically, diving deep into problems, and writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured code.

Currently, I am focused on expanding my practical experience, building my own projects, and applying my knowledge in professional development environments. My goal is to combine theory and practice effectively while contributing to innovative and impactful software solutions in the long term.

CMS

This project is a fully custom Content Management System inspired by WordPress, built from the ground up to fit my own requirements. Using HTML and CSS for flexible layouts and theming, and JavaScript/TypeScript for interactive and dynamic UI behavior, I implemented a system that allows users to design pages, manage structured content, and control how that content is rendered on the frontend.

The backend is written in PHP with a SQL-based data model to handle content, users, and configuration efficiently. The entire application is containerized with Docker to ensure consistent development and deployment environments, and version-controlled using Git. The long-term goal of this project is to fully replace WordPress for my personal sites, including the ability to publish this very portfolio using my own CMS.

ch_API

ch_API is a modular and extensible API platform developed as the backbone for my CodeHub applications, such as theEventBoard. Built with PHP and SQL, the system is designed around flexibility: endpoints, resources, and access rules are dynamically configurable rather than hardcoded.

The API supports creating, managing, and scaling multiple applications from a single system, making it suitable for a wide range of use cases beyond my own projects. Docker is used to containerize the services, ensuring portability and reproducible deployments, while Git is used for version control and collaborative development. Due to its architectural complexity and adaptability, this project is maintained as a standalone system.

Kugelmatik

This project began during my time in high school, where my partner and I took responsibility for maintaining and extending an existing software system tied to legacy hardware. Working primarily with Java and C++, we modernized the software stack as much as possible without modifying the original hardware, focusing on stability, maintainability, and performance improvements.

We successfully released a major update, resolved long-standing issues, and restructured parts of the codebase to bring the project back to life. Development and testing were supported using Docker for consistent environments, and Git for version control and release management. The project demonstrates my ability to work with legacy systems, understand existing architectures, and evolve them under real-world constraints.

EventBoard

EventBoard is a modern web application designed for creating, managing, and organizing events efficiently. The platform allows users to structure their events, edit them, and keep all relevant information in one centralized system.

The focus is on a clean user interface, ease of use, and efficient data handling. Events can include details such as title, date, description, and additional metadata to ensure clear and organized presentation.

The project was built to implement common CRUD functionality in a practical way while strengthening architectural understanding in web development. Emphasis was placed on both usability and clean system design.

EventBoard also serves as a foundation for future enhancements such as user roles, calendar integration, or event analytics.
